A Day In The Life

Every day is different at The Burrow, but what is always consistent is how our Bunnies develop, learn and grow while having heaps of fun! Here is an example of a typical day in the life of a Big Bunny at our nursery and preschool in Ashtead, Surrey:
My daddy drives me to The Burrow and parks in the car park. It’s a new one now! When I get there, I can run around the wood and say hello to my friends. I do that until it’s time to go in for Talk Time.
I take my wellies off all by myself and hang my coat up too. When we go inside, we sit on the carpet. We sit very still and very quiet so we can listen to everyone’s news. Then it’s Challenge Time!
Challenge Time makes me feel very clever because the teacher tells us a challenge and we have to work in our group to find the answers, like who’s got more buttons or what word sounds like (rhymes with) dog – that's my favourite challenge, I'm good at that!
After that, we get lots of time to play. When it’s our turn to be in the house and garden*, we can play in all the rooms, wherever we want. I like The Den best because it’s a whole room just for building, with tins and boxes and tubes. The Studio is for sticking and painting and playdough.
We have snacks too and we ask for milk or water, and we say “please” and “thank you” with our hand signs (Makaton). Breadsticks are my favourite snack, and we all bring in fruit to share. I’m very happy when someone brings strawberries! 🍓
When we finish eating, we go outside into the garden. We can do tinkering (playing with small loose parts) on the deck or dig in the Mud Corner. We can write in the Writing Hut with real pens and there is a dry sandpit and a wet sandpit. The wet one is really soggy!
We have a new swing too, and sometimes we have to wait in a line for our turn. I like building castles with big loose parts, like a crate for the gate and drainpipes for the towers. We planted seeds once and they grew into tomatoes and potatoes!
We take turns to feed the ducks and the rabbits and the chickens every day because it’s our job to look after them. I love the ducks the most, but we also have stick insects inside too – lots of them!
We always tidy up before Singing and Story Time. After that it’s home time, but that’s okay because we come back again tomorrow. I always have lots of fun at The Burrow! 😊
